Last night was Cleveland Elementary night at the Men's Gymnastics meet of Oklahoma vs. Iowa. Here's the Sooners write-up on it.
Anyway, I went with Jacob and David. Jacob did well the whole time. David started having trouble staying in his seat towards the end. Tired and still young enough, I guess. But he claimed to be interested. Not sure I'll bring him next time to a late event. And still glad we didn't bring Sam. Sam gets sleepy extra soon, too.
So, fun enough times. Gymnastics is crazy. Fascinating to watch. Hard to believe people can do stuff like that.
Also, the men's gymnastics team does volunteer work at Cleveland. Jacob says that at one Friday assembly, one of the team jumped over like 20 students and teachers. Seems crazy. Not sure exactly what it was like. (Oh, and I doubt that counted as volunteer work. They do real help, too, I think.)

Tom's Political Spectrum Quiz Results
Got reminded of this political spectrum quiz thing by Will Baird. Here are my results (though I frequently dislike general labels applied to specific answers, but this one gives complex enough results that I find it more interesting than some):
My Political Views
I am (... this text is directly from the quiz ...) a center-left moderate social authoritarian
Left: 1.1, Authoritarian: 2.36

My Foreign Policy Views
Score: -3.64

My Culture War Stance
Score: 2.09

My own comment again: Usually conservatives call me liberal and vice versa.

Fun at the hospital
So, Zeke got sick a week ago, and we kept on hoping that he would get better on his own. On Monday, we brought him in to urgent care. Diagnosis: ear infection with possibly strep throat as well. His high fever continued, and on Wednesday, we took him back to the doctor. This time his chest was rattling and he was dehydrated. The student health clinic really isn't equipped to deal with pediatric patients, so we were sent to the emergency room for treatment. When we got there, they did a chest x-ray. Apparently it was pretty bad. So instead of an IV and breathing treatment in the emergency room, he was fully admitted into the hospital. After 1 day, he was looking much better already, and eating solid foods again. But he refused ALL liquids. From any container. He continued to look better, and was getting pretty feisty by Friday night. Active, and wanting to touch everything. So this morning we took a chance. He still refused to drink anything, but we decided to take him home anyway. Well, just a few minutes after getting home, we offered him a bottle of formula. He quickly drank 5 oz. He just really HATED the hospital!!!! He has been even more active at home.
He is not fully well, and still has some stuff in his lungs. And he must keep drinking, or he'll be back in the hospital. Still, we're happy to have him back home, and so are all of the kids! Anna especially missed her playmate.
I have a couple pictures, which I will have to post later.

Typical day?
So, slept in a little bit today. Helped take care of Zeke and Anna while Tom got the big boys ready for school. Jacob, of course, forgot his backpack. Tom got home in time to get a call from the school - Sam has pinkeye. He went back, picked up Sam, and dropped of Jacob's backpack. Tom was late at this point, but took the bus anyway. At least he doesn't have classes yet.
Then we got a phone call from a "lawyer's office" that Tom owes someone money, and we needed to call them back right away. Not a real person - computerized message. And total BS. We don't owe anyone money. And Tom just saw his credit report and score (which is excellent). Not going to phish us!
Then maintenance came in to work on the bathroom sink, which is horribly clogged. Yesterday they took off the trap, replaced some things, and tried to snake it out. Now it's worse than when we called them. The line is connected to our 3 neighbors, so they want to fix it asap. So they're bringing in a plumber. The may have to tear out the wall to fix it. Glad it's not me that has to do it!
And the home purchase is definitely on. Not sure on the closing date. By the 30th for sure, but maybe sooner if everything works out. We got the sellers to agree to 1,000 in repair costs. It had previously been $500, but we wanted more after discovering that the weatherhead pipe (electrical entry for the house) needed to be replaced. Apparently they ignored the damage after the ice storm a year ago. I think it's bent at least 30 degrees. That and a new electrical panel will be the repairs we focus on first. Don't get me wrong - overall, the house is in great shape for being built in '65. There's just some things I won't compromise on.
Meanwhile, still waiting for Lydia to make her appearance. I wouldn't mind her being late if I weren't worried about interfering with Tom's classes. Or the fact that my grandpa seems to be doing worse, and I want to be able to make the trip for his funeral. I can't travel until after she's born.
That's my ramblings for the day. LOL

Tom's Movie Quote Quiz
Here's a game I heard of. Think of 20 movies you like, find quotes from them, and see if people can guess the movies. Here are mine:
I also tried mixing obscure and common movies, and obscure and more memorable quotes.
Feel free to comment with guesses here (or guesses on Facebook or MyFamily.com where I'm linking from), but don't cheat before making guesses.
- Just fear me, love me, do as I say, and I will be your slave.
- San Dimas High School football rules!
- A man cannot call himself well-contented until he has done all he can to be of service to his employer.
- "Do you want consummate musicianship or fame and fortune?" "Fame and fortune."
- "You can't smell wine, can't taste it!" "But I remember."
- You've got serious thrill issues, dude.
- In a past life, this worm could have been your mother.
- I am not a gun.
- It's 6:03, and the heirs to my dominion are scrubbed and tubbed, and adequately fed.
- More's the pity. Then your tailors will rule the land, and no one will make the clothes. So much for French fashion, and French politics.
- Anybody want a peanut?
- Well, I want to go to Bombay, India and become a movie star.
- I'm expendable. I'm the guy in the episode who dies to prove how serious the situation is. I've gotta get outta here.
- Yeah, I kissed a girl, and this other fella didn't like it, so we had some words, and so I decided to get out of there. So I did, I got out of there. You know me, Emmett, I don't want no trouble.
- Kirby? That's not even a name!
- Me, die? And miss all the excitement? Ha-ha, no. I was merely dormant while my body repaired itself. Ah well, enough with the details. Suffice it to say, you're on Rylos, my boy.
- To die is nothing. To jump the great boa is everything.
- Well, I'm not used to supposin'. I'm just a workin' man. My boss does all the supposin' - but I'll try one. Supposin' you talk us all out of this and, uh, the kid really did knife his father?
- "I want peace on earth and goodwill toward man." "Oh, this is ridiculous." "He's serious."
- We are the melodies and the notes of your opus. We are the music of your life.
