Most of us have been sick this week, some us of staying sick longer than others. I stayed home from work Thursday and Friday.
But because it was probably our last chance to see it in theaters, and because we'd been planning to go, we went and watched The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything yesterday. It was a bit overdone theme, but still the principles were good, and there was lots of funny in it, as usual. Big Idea usually has good style. The show was also a bit Narnia-esque in a few ways. Sort of interesting.
We're also trying to start working on science fair projects. It's just a few weeks out. Jacob is studying the effect of increased size (height) on weight, and also the effect on heat retention, all with an eye to dinosaur issues. I should also point Jacob sometime over to read some of Will Baird's blog. He discusses dinosaurs frequently.
David wants to make a model of the solar system. Not sure we'll pull that off all the way. We're trying to get a hypothesis out of him, but a question might be all we'll get. He and Jacob both understand the bigger things have more gravity, so why don't we fall into the sun? Jacob made some guesses, but David hasn't given any ideas. I'll try to find some ways (spinning something on a rope or computer simulations?) to give some ideas.
Anna is too sick for nursery, so I'm home with her and Zeke right now. We have the Book of Mormon DVD Presentations with the little videos used for Sunday School and so on.
Also, we put in a fence post a week or two back, and I hung some of the old fence back on it yesterday despite not feeling too well. Just had to do something or else start paying someone to work on it. Well, our back door neighbors hadn't said anything yet, but I think it's good not to leave things undone for too long. More work still needs done on it. Our side neighbors still haven't finished up, either. And they are doing a more thorough job. I won't complain.

Pinewood Derby
Jacob had his first pinewood derby this past week. He, Kristine, and I all worked on the car. I simplified the pattern a lot from his original designs. He chose the color scheme, too. I recommended he put "Anna" on the side at that point to make it for Anna. He thought that was a good idea. Though I actually put on the letters myself, he had done the rest of the painting.

He didn't win, but we also didn't get last every time. For the first run, it was extra slow. Not sure why, but we were in the ball park after that. Here's the fourth and last race for his car where we placed third:

Back to School
Jacob and David were back at school this week. Jacob had a book report due Friday. He still claims not to like school.
Jacob also helped us get a pinewood derby car done. The race is next Wednesday. He painted it purple and pink. I recommended we add "Anna" to the sides so it could be for (or in honor of?) his sister. I thought the color scheme might be more acceptable that way. We should take a picture and post it once we get it back.
Still haven't fixed our fence.

Temple, Too
I forgot to mention that Kristine and I also went to the temple on Friday morning, Kristine's first time since Zeke was born, and my second.
Very stormy on Friday, too. Parts of our fence are down, and it's not just us.
